Family trip to Italy & Greece

I'm trying to plan a trip to both Italy and Greece. In Italy we will be in Rome, Florance and cinch terra. Greece will be a quick day or two in Athens then on to the islands.... That's all I have. Where do we stay in these places, with a family of four I'm having trouble finding places that don't cost a fortune!

Do you have RS Italy and Greece Guide Books yet? If so, good. If not, you should get them as soon as you can as they will be very helpful in your planning. We just got out new Italy Guide Book to assist us in planning for this summers trip to Italy.

Try the Hotel Attalos in Athens. We booked it on the recommendation of one of the board members in the eastern Europe section. 450 euro for 4 people, 5 nights. Will be staying there next week. PM me if you want and I'll let you know what I thought of the place when I get back.

Lora, Some additional information would be very helpful. For example: > When will this trip be taking place? (The Cinque Terre will not be opening for the season until about April 1st.) > What are the ages of your children? > What price range / comfort level are you looking for in accommodations? > Which city are you starting in when you travel to Italy? (Flying from Rome to Athens is probably the easiest). > Which Greek Islands will you be visiting?

The hotel in Greece sounds good. Thanks I'll look into it.
We are family of 4, with 2 boys ages 15 and 13. We are trying to get the most for our $ but don't mind spending more for adventures not on accommodations. I've just started looking into Greece and don't know where we will go. I'm looking for ideas. We depart the States at the end on May.

I stayed at the Attalos in Athens and it was fine for us. It was close enough for us to walk to a number of places. Best part was .... arriving in the early evening...checking in and then going up to the roof top deck just as it got dark! Nice breakfast as well, and it was a reasonable price for this hotel.
