Hubby dear tells me he wants to celebrate 20 years of marriage next year in Europe, and I've travelled on my own several times so he wants "me" to plan it. Obviously everything must be approved by him, and he insists on Paris, Pisa, Cinque Terre, and Venice. I suggested Fall travel since our anniversary is in August when its really hot, and my folks can watch the kids. NOPE, the kids are going with us and he wants to go in July.
So... next July. 3 weeks (or a tiny bit more). 2 girls age 17 and 9.
One idea I have is to take a cruise from Barcelona to Venice, then fly to Paris before we head home. The other idea is to mostly rent apartments in major cities and do a couple day trips. I'm thinking something like Paris 5 nights, Venice 4 nights, Florence 4 nights, CT 2-3 nights, and Rome 5-6 nights. Or do you think my girls might enjoy less time in Florence & CT, and instead stay in the Tuscan countryside? I've never rented a car in Italy, but I suppose it makes sense with a family.
I've never rented an apartment in Europe before. Is there anything I need to be aware of vs. staying in a hotel?
