Visiting Rome March 15 through the 19. Interested in hotel short walk to Vatican, good restaurants, how and where to get Vatican schedule of any interesting attractions during time there. Want Scavi tour. Also years ago it held a buffet dinner when one toured the Sistine Chapel at night. Don’t know who to contact there.

Thank you. I did go there. What I'm looking for is the schedule for 2027 which does not appear on the Vatican site. I'm sure it is somewhere as the hotels are filling up already. I'm trying to make reservations for any special happenings it may be holding during that week.
Also need address of nice hotels within short walking distance as we have two in tow in their 80s.
Youngest is boy of 12 and like to find interesting restaurants for him. All good eaters.

I believe Vatican tickets open until 60 days ahead, so it is too early to buy them. Hotel availability might be affected by an early Easter (March 28, 2027).

Check out Hotel Museum, which is a short walk to the Vatican Museums. I have stayed here during a Rick Steves tour.

Museum tickets are now available through the end of the year: see the website. As far as I know, they don't offer an evening buffet dinner anymore although having browsed current random days they do apparently offer a happy hour for timed-entry, later-day tickets (extra price; and only available during the warmer months) and lunch (also extra price) for timed-entry tickets earlier in the day. Things have changed quite a bit over the past year or so regarding ticket opinions, museum hours, etc.
It's far too early for a schedule of 2027 events, and my guess is that there would be few if any of those in the museums beyond the standard current offerings + any popping up in their "News" section (https://www.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani/en/eventi-e-novita/notizie/2026.html).
For St Peter's, any upcoming events will be on its website under "News". (https://www.basilicasanpietro.va/en/news).
The 2027 Papal Calendar may also be useful once the Pope's schedule is finalized: it's currently completely blank for next year.

IMHO, contacting the Vatican won't be useful at this point for info regarding unadvertised 2027 events.
It looks like you'll be in Rome for 4.5 days or so? There's a lot to do/see in the Eternal City, and you would have plenty of time for attractions beyond the Vatican's. Are you interested in suggestions and, if so, what sorts of things would your group enjoy? What's the age span of your family of 9?
