In late May, my family of seven people will be leaving Venice for the Marco Polo Airport. I assume there are several ways to accomplish this trip. However, which one to choose is a bit complicated. The local bus, the Airport Bus, the Aliguna boat from Zattere vaporetto stop on the outer canal, or a private water taxi. How does one research which mode of transportation to the airport? I assume also that a taxi is probably the quickest method and probably the most expensive, but do they accommodate seven people? Do any of these methods provide a scenic departure from Venice? Each of us will only have one carry on luggage, if that makes a difference for taxi service.

Last May 2023 my husband and I walked behind the main train station in Venice where buses to several places in Venice pick up and return passengers, and this is the location to pay for tickets and very quickly get on the bus going to Marco Polo.The bus filled up very quickly so that is something to consider. It was very matter fact, organized and the cheapest way to the airport. Do some research and you will easily get the exact price and schedule. The drive is not especially scenic but it is efficient and got us to the airport for our flight to London.

When (what time) do you need to be at the airport? That could make a difference, as well.

Since public transportation is about 15 EUR per person, either by Alilaguna or Vaporetto/bus combo, look at a private water taxi. They charge flat rate for up to 4 people and I believe 10 EUR for each additional person, so would be 170 EUR total. May be more if you want a scenic route.
Alilaguna from Zattere is a long way, it makes 7 more stops, including Lido and Murano before it gets to the airport, taking an hour and 20 minutes.
If you want a scenic exit and you can walk to the Accademia dock, and take the No 1 boat to Piazzale Roma then the No 5 bus to the airport. It will take about 30 minutes to get to Piazzale Roma, Bus takes 20 minutes to the airport and they go every 15 minutes M-Sat, 20 minutes Sun & holidays. That is 18 EUR pp combined boat/bus ticket.
