Both our daughters will be studying abroad this fall, one in London and the other in Florence. We will have one long weekend together and want to rendezvous somewhere in the countryside or by the sea.( Not a big city) Since we have limited time it needs to be an easy trip for both of them. We have spent quite a bit of time in France and would prefer to go somewhere else. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

They're in London and Florence and France is between those locations but you don't want France, and you want it to be an easy trip for each of them. Switzerland it is, how about the Lauterbrunnen Valley in the Berner Oberland--some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on the planet, Yosemite on Steroids.
