Family lodging in Venice

Hello, All. I'm having a tough time trying to find reasonable lodging (from $150-250 per night) in Venice for three adult family members. Any hotel or BnB suggestions?

Also, has anyone simply flown into Rome, based in Florence and found a day trip to Lucca/Pisa, a day trip to Venice, and a day in Florence to be satisfying (before heading into the Tuscan countryside)? Did it work out?

Thanks!

I see on one of your other postings that you're planning travel for next May. So only a small percentage of places should already be booked up and some may not yet be open for booking. A search engine that lets you set several parameters sounds like the best option. Booking.com does find apartments in your budget.

This was a great hotel last year:

A day in Florence is not much.
Luccas-Pisa should be fine
Venise under 2 very full days(ideally more of course) is not nuch to be honest

I agree with Laura that 11 months out, there may be some places that haven't yet opened bookings for your dates. But some have - I just took a peek at booking.com and there were quite a few places with rooms or apartments for 3 at your price point. You can check them out on TripAdvisor as well as reading booking.coms reviews.

A day in Venice and a day in Florence - you won't even scratch the surface. If you can't add more days, then I'd eliminate one of them.

Yep. Way too early to look. Start looking about 7-8 months ahead.

Thanks, All. I was hoping I was too early. What happened was that the first two apartments I was simply inquiring about in Rome were already booked for next May! I verified that with the owner. I already knew I had to be early for top Tuscan farm stays where there were only 5-7 rooms. After that, I started looking at Venice because that was the last piece of the puzzle. My observation about Venice was that it is quite pricey, especially for three people. I've found all sorts of doubles, but triples (or two room apartments) are a different story. I thought I might be going about it wrong. We like the Dorsoduro neighborhood and hope to find something there. Other than our preferred Dorsoduro neighborhood, the Locanda Orseolo botique hotel, however, is highly praised here and on TripAdvisor and it may be worth either squeezing 3 adults into 25 sq. meters or biting the bullet and getting two standard rooms. That will be very pricey but may be worth the experience. Pensione Guerrto is also praised on this site but I saw "bring your ear plugs" a time or two in postings so not sure. I just thought you might have some input so I can act when the time comes. Thanks!

I stayed there last year. Quiet neighborhood. Gorgeous apartment. Highly recommended.

Where in Venice is this Venetian Terrace? Some of the photos and their own descriptions suggest it's near Piazzale Roma.
