Family Hotel in Rome

I will be traveling to Italy this coming August (2018) to visit family and would like to spend the last few days in Rome.

I will be traveling with my wife and two boys, ages 11 and 8.

Can anyone recommend a nice place to stay for 2-3 nights for the four of us, preferably with a private bathroom?

I really like the Trastevere area; or, shall we go the AirBnb route?

Thank you.

I usually stay near the main train station. There are several budget hotels within walking distance (a couple of blocks)
Contila -
Aberdeen -
Sonya -

To name 3 that I have stayed in. They have several different size rooms and all have private bathrooms. You can check them out online and see their prices....may be able to get lower prices if you contact them directly.

My boys are just a little younger than yours and I support the airbnb or other apartment route! Look on booking.com or airbnb for 2 bedroom apartments. These will often be cheaper than a quad room (and a quad room is hard to find - a lot of places want to give you 2 rooms, which is fine for older teens but not pre-teens). You also get more space, which means more privacy for you. My kids sometimes go to bed early and the adults can stay up, talk, drink wine, whatever, without waking them up. Or, as my kids get older it is more likely they sleep late and I can get ready and go for an early AM walk while my husband and kids sleep in.

Yes, Trastevere is a good location.
