Family friendly lodging in Milan, Venice, Florence, and Rome

We are planning a "last-minute" trip to Italy in November/December. Does anyone have any recommendations for accomodations for a family (2 year old and 5 year old kids) in Milan, Venice, Florence, or Rome? I was thinking about going the Airbnb route since it would be nice to have easy access to kitchen and laundry facilities but a B&B or hotel might feel a bit more like a vacation for me. I am still working out exactly what our budget will be but we are definitely "budget" travelers and would like to find something less expensive.
Thank you in advance for your advice!

Try using Booking.com for finding lodging. It includes apartments, B&Bs and hotels. You can put in 2 adults and 2 kids. It will ask the ages of the kids. You will find many options for the 4 of you. You can filter the results in lots of ways.

In most cases you can contact the lodgings directly to actually book. In most cases the apartments are also listed on other services. Typically the Airbnb listings are the most expensive for the same place.

You don't say how long this trip is and how many nights you plan to stay in each location. Sometimes apartment owners have minimum night requirements. Considering that apartments are self-catering, it's really not worth stocking up for a short stay.

Also keep in mind that often apartments have washers but the dryer is a rack, so you need to be there long enough for the clothes to dry in what are likely to be damp conditions. The washers take quite a long time. It's been my experience that appliances that say they both wash and dry, don't really dry anything.

I've rented apartments in all your locations except Milan. None of them had a dryer. I've done self-service laundry at a lavanderia in Rome and Milan. Both of those businesses would have done the laundry for me if I'd wanted that.

hey hey YJJ
like lo says you can check booking.com and left side has filters and put in what you hope and wish for.
don't know your dates and what your budget is in euros.
cross-pollinate.com
check out trip advisor.com under vacation rentals
casarabatti.it in florence
cabadoer-veniceflat.it you will need to email them for availability
venetohotels.com check city-apartments-cannaregio
check your arrivals times, if too early is there luggage hold and if not where to hold luggage until checkin time? where and when can you get keys? if staying in hotel, rooms in italy are not big and may need to rent 2 rooms or a family/quad room for all 4 of you, and list all staying in room. contact hotel/apt by email if any questions, dress warm. good luck, happy traveling

We are a family of 5 and stayed at the following apartment in Venice in July using Airbnb. I can highly recommend this apartment, it was well suited for a family plus it was not in the middle of the tourist areas but it had easy walking access to everything we needed. Loved the fact, we could relax during the day, walk to the bakery for breakfast pastries and there were plenty of grocery stores and restaurants, near by. Plus it is highly rated and Stefano is a Superhost.

Try also vrbo.
For Florence and many old cities in Italy mention it if you want a lift.
November is usually a cheap month and could get a big apartment centrally located for around 150-(4 persons) 200 euros (6 persons)
Put the price you are willing to pay in the system and see for yourself.
