I'm looking for accomodations in Tuscany for a trip with my 4 kids in August. We would love to have a pool to use. We can't decide on which city to stay in, but would love to base ourself in one town for the whole week and do day trips from there. Any suggestions?

I can recommend la-fonte.com as a good base for touring. It is well placed outside of Certaldo with easy drives to San Gimignano, Volterra, Siena, etc. There are four apartments to choose from - the one we rented had two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen/living room - very comfortable. The property has off street parking, a pool and lots of room for kids to run around safely.

We stayed in Panzano in June at the Villa Pecille. It was awesome!!! Here is the website

Panzano is midway between Siena and Florence in the middle of the Chianti area. Beautiful countryside is the norm.

Marie - Just outside of San Gimignano is a wonderful B&B which is also close to Siena as well as Volterra. Here is the website -

Berta and her husband Andrea have an absolutely Beautiful property which I believe you would love. They also have a free Breakfast Buffet and, for an extra charge , home cooked Italian meals . As I mentione it is only a couple of miles from San Gimignano and less than 45 minutes from the other tow villages.

We stayed at the Agritourisimo Borgo Sicelli, near San Donato in Poggio. It was 1/2 mile from the freeway, midway between Siena and Florence. It was a wonderful base for us to use a car to explore all of the surrounding areas. They had wonderful self -contained apts, a pool, rec room, and a view to die for. The owners were extremly helpful, and gave us lots of tips about dining, places to visit, the best way to get to locations, etc.
