We will be spending several days in the Abruzzo region in mid-late May. We chose this area to get off the beaten (by American travelers, at least) path and do some hiking. I bought an Abruzzo guidebook online (still in transit), but I'm interested in some advice/opinions from like-minded travelers who've been there. For example, would you stay in one town and take day trips from there, or would you stay in a different place each night? What town(s) would you stay in? Best hikes? We will have a car.
