Fall Travel to Italy

We are planning a trip to Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice), Paris and London this fall but have not yet made reservations. Considering the fact that Northern Italy just experienced two earthquakes, and the economic scenerio in Europe is reaching
crisis stage, would a postponement to next spring be adviseable, or shouldn't these factors be a concern. Thanks, John

Not a concern. If you wait until Italy has no problems you'll never go. :-)

Agree just go ahead in the fall. Unless there is a sudden collapse, it will maybe have minimal impact on your travel. The earthquake was near Bologna and you are not going there. If you are still worried insure your flight and dont prepay your hotels.

we are going in September. Just planned a bike trip last month. Paid the deposit. Ready to travel to Italy again. Economic issues won't keep me home, and the earthquake wasn't in the are we'll be visiting. Anything can happen...we are letting life happen. Aren't getting any younger and Italy is calling me.....

John, I'd suggest going ahead and planning the trip and getting some arrangements in place. These are some of the facts I'd consider in the same situation: > London - no earthquakes yet and the economic situation is as stable as usual. > Paris - same as London > Venice - While it's in the general area affected by the recent earthquakes, there haven't been any problems yet. The financial situation hasn't deteriorated to the level of Greece, so things should be stable. > Florence - same as Venice > Rome - not affected by earthquakes so far. Financial situation same as Florence and Venice. There are never any guarantees with travel so another earthquake or financial stability could certainly occur. I doubt that financial problems will occur in the short term. If Italy follows Greece and Spain, the process will most likely take several months. You might find it interesting to read Rick's current Blog entry regarding feedback that he's received from Greece. Even with the severe problems there, travellers have been having a fantastic time! If you wait until everything is "perfect", you could wait forever. Happy travels!
