Fabric shopping in Milan

Looking for recommendations for fabrics stores in Milan. I'd love to come home with a piece of Italian fabric for a future project. Thanks, all.

What type of fabric? Furniture, clothing home decor?

Thank you for the question. I'm looking exclusively for fabric for clothing. Also clothing notions - buttons and zippers. I don't quilt, upholster, or make bags.

Thank y0u for the info, everyone.

Sorry, no direct suggestions for Milan but in case you didn't know fabric and notions are in different stores in Italy for some reason so don't expect to find both in one place.

Also if you're into fashion don't miss the Armani Silos in Milan.

Good luck,

In that case, Tessuti Raponi Sas must surely be an exception to this rule.

I'm hoping to do garment fabric shopping too when I'm in Milan in October.

I found these stores on a sewist's several years old blog post and checked the websites so they are still around.

Thank you for all the suggestions. And I never ask or expect the people who so generously make suggestions to provide current updates. I always check for those myself, since stores open and close with some frequency.

Hi, Giangilberto from Milan, I'm not entirely sure if what I'm about to write to you is what you're looking for, but from what I understand I'll give you my opinion, there are three shops in Italian called "Mercerie" which are institutions in Milan, century-old shops:

Merceria Guffanti, Corso di Porta Romana 7;

Merceria Grassi, Via Piero della Francesca 27;

and last but not least, the one and only Viganò Milano 1919, Via Paolo da Cannobio 9.

This is my selection, maybe they can be useful to you.
