It ends up our trip can be extended two days next month after five nights in Rome then three in Florence. We will then fly home form Milan. Any suggestions on what to add with our gift of extra days?

Quick stop in Venice? add a night Sienna or add to Florence?

If your Rome-Florence dates aren't set in stone, perhaps 2 days in Orvieto in between?

You could add on to Florence, but if you've never been to Venice and you have two nights then I'd do Venice. You can wake up in Florence and take the quick 2 hour trip to Venice no problem. You then have part of one day to explore. You have one other day as well but you may or may not be able to spend that second night in Venice....it's a 2.5 hour ride just to Milan and then you need to get to the airport. So I recommend Venice - but with reservations....depends on your flight time from Milan and your energy level.
Venice is something special, though.
