Extra day in Tuscany or Amalfi coast?

My husband and I are going to italy for 16 days and I am having the hardest time deciding the best way to divide up our time. Here is the itinerary so far: Venice - arrive at 9 am tour that day and half the next (1night) Cinque terre -3 nights, 2 full days Siena- (see pisa on the way here from CT) from here will see Florence, Tuscany and other hill towns - 4 or 5 nights Rome - 3 nights (2 full dys + half) Sorrento - (from here will see capri, Amalifi coast, Pompeii) 4 or 5 nights Last night spent in Naples as we fly out from there early am So what do you think? Extra day in Tuscany or sorrento? Any other suggested changes (I.e. should we spend more time in the big cities?)
Thanks!!

Hi Sarah, You can use your extra time in Rome or Venice. You are, IMHO, short-changing both of these cities. In fact, you should skip Venice if you only have one night. You'll be jet-lagged and not really enjoy it. Add that night and your extra one to Rome. Can you go directly to the Cinque Terre? Another night there would not go amiss either, assuming good weather. When is your trip?

We arrive in Venice on May 10...and we already have plane tickets so I guess we will still see Venice for the short bit that we are there. But thank you for the recommendation! I will think about adding that extra day to Rome

Personally I'd remove a day from the CT and add at least one night to Venice and one to Rome. However if you are determined to spend the extra night in to either Tuscany or Sorrento, I love both but would probably pick Tuscany. They are quite different so it would really depend on what your interests are.
