Extra day between Rome & Amalfi Coast Honeymoon

Greetings,

I am planning a honeymoon in Rome and the Amalfi Coast arriving Monday June 6th. I had originally only planned for 3 nights in Rome > 4 nights in Sorrento > travel back to Rome for 1 night before flight. Now we are leaving a day later than expected and I'm on the fence about what we should do with the extra time.

I've been to Rome before (not an expert) but my fiance has not, so I know there are a few things we can skip (entirety of the Vatican Museum for example) but since it's a honeymoon and I want to keep it more on the laid back side I want to minimize tiring travel, but don't want to be anywhere too long and get a little bored or antsy. We are planning on doing Pompeii, and other travel around the coast (any interesting tips on that appreciate too!)

Any ideas on how we should spend an extra day? Or specific romantic/relaxing things/places to visit?

Thanks for your help!

Add an extra night to the Amalfi Coast. Stay and enjoy the honeymoon there would be my suggestion. Loved Positano.

3 nights / 3.5 days you can see the highlights of Rome in.

If you want an interesting little respite in between the two high-season madnesses of Rome and the A.C., you could do far worse than spending a night in Salerno, walking around the old town & seeing the neat little shops, dining top-notch at any number of great trattorias, then accessing Sorrento the next day by bus, train, or hydrofoil.

A day trip to Capri is nice, go see the Blue Grotto, walk around the town, or go to Amalfi town, Positano or Salerno...
