I am planning a flight to Florence by way of the London City Airport. It will be the first time for me to go through that airport. I would be interested to hear of any experiences anyone has with that airport.
Thanks

I have flown in an out many times.
It's a very small airport. Only smaller regional jets and turboprops. No long walks from entrance to security.
Security is good because you no longer have to remove anything from your bags.

No more than a 3-4 minutes walk to the furthest gate. Be aware, if crowded, seats are hard to get. Also know you will walk out to your plane. No jet bridges.
One other thing.....if you take the DLR to the airport, there are no exit gates. You will need to tap out and the machines are on the side.
We like that airport a lot—-easy to reach with the DLR, and easier to navigate on foot than Heathrow. Friendlier security agents. Limited seating in the gate areas. Basically it reminded me of flying to small US airports in the 1960-70s. Not a bad thing at all.
It's the preferred airport by Florentine business travelers when they need to go to London.
