Hi. I'm planning our first trip to Rome. Just finished reading Rick's 2019 Rome guide. I'm researching sights online and am reading that some sights are open after hours but you need an exclusive after hours ticket Eg: an exclusive after hours ticket to Sistine Chapel. Is that real or a scam? Also, is there a separate ticket just for the Underground/Third Ring of the Colosseum? Thanks.
If it is a scam why would it be in the book?
Have you read any of the previous pages of posts about after hours tours here on this website?
Hi. Thanks for your reply. I read about the exclusive after hours ticket on some website. I didn't read it in the book. I haven't looked too much into the after hours question on the form. I'll check.
There may be scams out there, but there are definitely legitimate after-hours tours offered by certain agencies, such as Walks of Rome and City Wonders/Dark Rome.
We did an early-access tour of the Sistine Chapel with Dark Rome, but I see they offer an after-hours small group as well.
The after hours Sistine Chapel tour is legit. Just that ~$500 pp is a tad bit rich for my blood......
$500 must be for a private tour. The after-hours tour with Dark Rome I linked above is $82 per person, in a group of 20. But they only do it on Friday nights and not many of those.
Vatican Museum Friday night tickets available on the regular website -- and no €500. It's not a tour, just tickets.
Also, is there a separate ticket just for the Underground/Third Ring
of the Colosseum?
Those areas can only be accessed with a tour. If ordering one though coopculture (the official ticketing website), it's considered an in-addition-to the mandatory general-entry ticket. This is the tour you want....
...and note that per adult, it's € 15,00 for the tour + € 12,00 for the entry ticket +€ 2,00 reservation fee ( € 29 total). These tours sell out very quickly in advance so I'd jump as soon as they become available for your dates.
