Hi Carol,

I did take this tour and it was very interesting. I enjoyed it. At the end of the tour you can go inside St. Peter's.

I took the scavi tour last year and thought it was fascinating. You should definitely take it!

This was a highlight! Too bad you can't take pictures, but even so, it's very much worth the time.

Bear in mind, if you have kids, that you have to be at least 15 for the Scavi Tour.

Bummer for us, since my 2 youngest are 12.

Does this tour have to be booked ahead of time or can I look into setting up a reservation when we get there? I worried about going over budget by booking too many tours but Rome is at the end of our tour and may want to do it then. Thanks!

For me the Scavi was a "must see" and one of the highlights of Rome.

If travelling with under 15 year olds you could book each adult on a successive tour and kids can tour around with the nontouring parent--- then switch off.

Carol....you must go on this tour. We made reservations about 6 weeks before we left for Italy./ We made our trip last Sept. Enjoy all of it. Happy trails, Marydallas

Have emailed information through to do tour. Thanks for all the support
I have been requested by email for information to book. I just emailed [email protected] and got a reply back in a couple of days. I guess I was just lucky. The email that came back was from
[email protected], so maybe try both. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion about how to have the adults take the Scavi Tour without the 12 year olds. But, honestly, as much as I'd like to see it, there is so much else to see, and I would feel really badly excluding my kids.

Was your reply a confirmation of a specific time or just a reply that they received your email. I sent a request Mar 1 for May 1 and receiveda reply but not with times. Does anyone know what that means. Should I send another request Joann

Yes, I received an official reply with a number to be quoted etc. and prompts on how to pay. Did pay, but have received no confirmation (they said it would take a few days) as yet. Perhaps email again.
