Everything Leo

I'm a bit of a Leo fanatic. No, not the middle aged man who dates 20 year old super models. The other guy. :) As part of our fall trip plans, I'm seeing this trip as a DaVinci Pilgrimage. I've been reading tons of books, researching and excited to behold the master's great works! I've listed all the obvious things to see, Birthplace, Paintings, Resting place etc but wondered if anyone else had some lesser known experiences, places or gems that I could add to my growing list.

Thank you!

Since you mention his birthplace, you may also know about the Museo Leonardiano Vinci in the town of Vinci, with exhibits devoted to his technology and machines. It's a lovely little town, with free parking at the base. When I visited (quite a few years ago) there was a nice little ceramics atelier, run by a Sicilian artisan on the small road that leads from the parking lot into the center of town.

So you’ll be going to the Vatican Museum to see the unfinished St Jerome in the Wilderness?

Yes CW, I'm planning to go to Vinci. Seems like an easy trip from Florence.

And yes, Claudia, can't wait to see his St Jerome. It's stunning.

I should think so by bus or train, although we drove from Lucca - on winding, hillside roads that were lovely, and required a fair amount of attention - and more time than would be expected by the distance.
