Has anyone ever stayed at the il Rosario convent? It is near the Trevi fountain and very reasonable. We are trying to be frugal in Rome (quite a challenge) as lodging is so much more expensive in Venice. We have a triple room with breakfast for 120Eur which I haven't found anywhere else. I read some of the TripAdvisor reviews but this merry band of travelers is my go to group!
Thanks -
Casa il Rosario is nearer the Colosseum which you can see from the roof top, and the Trajan Market. It has a 1st floor terrace, a second floor garden and the 4th floor rooftop terrace (with clothesline!!!!!). Floor levels are Italian...add a level for Americans. ;-) It was delightful..I met several interesting travellers there. In the mornings you can hear the nuns singing. Use googlemaps to show the location @ Via dei Goti. The convent is a few houses 'down' the map. Look for the garden as described. Read my post on the coffee question for a bar and a ristorante nearby. Actually, plenty of eating in vicino. One of the nuns kissed my cheek as I left. I'll bet the five stars hotels don't bother. Enjoy.
Thanks Pat - it sounds great!
