I will be taking Eurostar from Rome to Venice to Join my RS tour in Venice. I have a 3 day Eurailpass Italy and reservation. I just heard that there is a 18 euro supplement fee for passholders traveling on Eurostar. Where and when do I pay the fee? Can I pay on-board or do I get fined ? Can I pay the fee here in the US ahead ? and how ?
Have you already paid for your Eurailpass? It's my understanding that it is much less expensive to just buy the point-to-point ticket.
Try: http://www.italylogue.com/planning-a-trip/new-way-to-buy-italy-train-tickets-with-discounts.html Click "Seat Reservations Only". Although they say they charge NO S&H, apparently there may be a $5.00 'Handling Charge'??? (Those tick me off; just include it in the price, Mr Company. Rant over.) Search the last few days worth of threads concerning Buying Italian Train Tickets for 3 possible ways to purchase your Passholder Fee, or Italian train tickets in general. And YES! Absolutely pay the Passholder Fees BEFORE BOARDING. Otherwise, bad things can happen...
Or save yourself the fee and book directly with Trenitalia. RonInRome explains how: http://www.roninrome.com/%20transportation/booking-on-the-trenitalia-website Again, this is assuming you haven't actually purchased that Eurailpass yet.
I already purchased my Eurailpass AND have a reservation. I only need to know where and when to pay my Eurostar passholder supplement fee. Before I leave (where) or in Italy (where).
Edmond, I'm not too clear on the circumstances you've described? If you currently have a reservation, I believe that IS your "Passholder Supplement Fee". Where did you obtain the "reservation"? DO NOT try to pay fees on board, as you WILL be fined on the spot, and it won't be cheap! Are you taking the train to Venice immediately after arrival in Rome? I'd suggest stopping at one of the ticket booths in Termini and speaking to the agent to make sure that you have the correct supplement for the trains you'll be taking. Happy travels!
If you've already paid for your reservation, that's it - you're done!
