Are you flying in from the states? We prefer to order Euros from our bank (BofA) and arrive with cash on hand. We take 200-300 euro, depending on the nature of the trip.

We make almost all our purchases with a credit card. We pay small vendors and buy incidentals with cash. As suggested, check bank affiliations and use the appropriate ATMs. We also like to use the ATM at a bank branch, preferably inside. Be aware of your surroundings when making a withdrawal.

I was just in Naples a year ago, make sure you use a money belt! I loved the town, the pizza and the Archeological Museum is awesome but it also has a reputation for pick pockets, especially around the Central Train Station, so it pays to be proactive.

Can anybody tell me if the ATM (bancomat) machines located in the Naples Capodichino Airport are bank affiliated machines. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

According to the airport website (see bottom) there is even a Banca Intesa branch (Italy's largest bank and one of the largest in Europe).

I have no direct experience of Naples airport ATM, but I noticed in most Italian airports that there are machines that are operated by EuroNet. Those machines are marked ATM only (no Bancomat logo) and are not bank operated.
The cash machines attached/operated to banks are always part of the Bancomat network and would have a Bancomat logo. Both would work, but the ATMs operated by EuroNet have higher fees and commissions, therefore if for whatever reason you are unable to locate the ones operated by Banca Intesa, withdraw as little as possible from the ATM operated by Euronet. Once you are in the city you will have plenty of bank branches to choose from, where you can withdraw at more reasonable rates.

You need to be aware of dynamic currency conversion (DCC). DO NOT select your home country’s currency, select Euros. Doing otherwise could cost you up to 18% in addition to your withdrawal amount. This is the same on an ATM withdrawal or a credit card purchase.

the machines identified as Bancomats are indeed Bank affiliated ATMs
