My girlfriend and I will be in Rome for the first time- arriving midday from Sorrento on 9/27 and leaving for home on 10/1. We plan on seeing the first time sites like the Vatican, Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, Borghese Gallery, to name a few sites. We will be using RS's Rome books for site priorities and walks. Apparently European Heritage Days are on 9/29 & 9/30 when many of the Roman sites have free admission. I assume the crowds will be large and the lines long. What experience do you have visiting during European Heritage Days in Rome? Any Tips to avoid the lines or strategies on what to visit first?
