We are planning to rent a car using Europcar in Pisa after arriving by train. I see there are two Europcar locatins, the Pisa Airport and PISA DT. Is the DT location near the train station?

No, the DT location is not near the train station, the DT location is near the south end of the Ponte Solferino (bridge). This map shows the location: click here green EC is pick up location

If you find the airport pickup area acceptable, the Pisa airport is one of three in Italy that have train service to the airport. It's a 5 minute ride from Pisa Centrale. I haven't checked the hours but they may be open longer at the airport.

I agree with hopping on the train to the airport because train transfer is easy, hours are likely longer and you're more likely to have a clerk who speaks English. And then it's easier to drive from the airport than it is from downtown (although Pisa is not too bad for driving). Be sure you factor the airport pick-up charge into you decision.
