Euro Traveler Checks

Many of the hotels in the Rick Steves Book want payment by cash or Euro Travelers checks. Where can these be purchased?

Stick to cash it is cheaper. Am Express and others will sell Euro TCs but the fees are higher and the exchange poor.

Just get your daily limit at the atms and you should have enough euros by the time you leave. Much easier, cheaper and less complicated. Even the smallest town have atms.

Eileen,

As the others have mentioned, Traveller's Cheques are not the best method of payment. Obtaining cash from ATM's is by far the easiest and usually least expensive method.

Be sure to review your daily withdrawal limit with your Bank prior to departure. However, one point to note is that European Banks also have daily withdrawal limits, and this may be different (usually lower) than the amount your Bank allows.

Note that your travel funds accessed by ATM usually must be in a chequing account with a four-number PIN.

Cheers!
