HI! Has anyone used this reloadable cash passport card? If so, can I please get your thoughts on the fees, convenience etc? Thanks!

Without knowing the specifics of the card it is impossible to judge it. However, in general, the prepaid debit cards (some are better than others) are not good deals because of the fees involved. There are two levels of fees fees that are disclosed and fees that are buried in exchange rates, etc. The AAA debit card, the TravelEx card, have been reviewed in some details and the fees were as high as 10%. There is little advantage to a prepaid card over a standard debit card unless you do not have access to a bank/credit union debit card. There really is nothing more convenient and cheaper for obtain local currency than a debit card at an ATM.

This biggest advantage of the Travelex card is that it's chip-and-pin, so you can use it at unattended credit card terminals in Europe - such as electronic ticketing machines at train stations and self-serve pay-at-the-pump gas stations. Whether it's worth the fees is another question. The card can also be advantageous if the euro keeps rising against the dollar, because you lock in your exchange rate the day you buy it. Of course if the euro goes down after you buy the card, you lose.

I bought one just for incidentals (I have about 350 euros on it) like train tickets and little things that are difficult without a chip n pin card. There were some fees but in the end it didn't cost me anything since I bought it several months ago when the dollar was stronger but the reason I bought it was convenience. Mostly I will get cash from ATMs from my Capital One and Credit Union Accounts.

I am using it now. Working well. Change fee is paid up front when card is loaded and some fee is lost for any unspent cash. Open the web account ahead so you can check balance etc
