Your original post with my response and your subsequent one disappeared. Now that your post has reappeared, I'll answer again.
If you want to use a pass in five countries, you'll need a pass that includes all five. A pass gives you the chance to be flexible and allows you to take several rides on the same day at no additional charge. However, reservation fees on trains that require them and supplements for night trains can add up in a hurry. It can be cheaper to buy point-to-point tickets, particularly if you can commit in advance to particular days and times which would allow you to book non-refundable, non-exchangeable discount fares on national rail sites.
To get an idea of point-to-point fares, go to www.renfe.es (Spain). www.voyages-sncf.com (France), www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html (Italy), www.oebb.at/en (Austria), and www.bahn.de (Germany). Enter times and dates within the next 60 days or you may not be able to get fares.
