Eurail from Venice or Florence to Cinque Terre

My daughter will be traveling on Eurail, arriving in Venice, maybe Florence. Early June this year. Can she travel from either of those cities to Cinque Terre via Eurail, or must she connect with Trenitalia? I remember changing trains at La Spezia to get to Cinque Terre when traveling Trenitalia from Florence. I assume this has not changed(?)Does anyone have an idea of cost for local trains to/from Cinque Terre and either Florence or Venice on Trenitalia? Thanks so much in advance!

Eurail is a ticket reseller. The trains are run by trenitalia. Which part of cinque terre are you interested in?

There are several cities where you can change trains to get from Florence to Cinque terre. Monterosso and La Spezia are the two main cities where you will have to change trains. You'll be taking the slower trains that don't have seat reservation. The trip should take between 2.5 and 3.5 hours. The cost should be between 9-21 euros depending on the train and class of seats.

She will most likely hike all 5 towns. Maybe just a day thing. She will be coming down from Switzerland. So, if she is on Trenitalia anyway, do you think that this Cinque jaunt may be paid for with her eurail pass, or, worst case scenario, I suppose she would pay the additional cost to La Spezia/Pisa, then on to say the lowest town of the five. Riomaggiore? Do you know if trains run often throughout the day to the area?

If your daughter's Eurail pass includes Italy, then it will be good on all Trenitalia trains in Italy. She will have to buy seat reservations for any trains that require them: 10.00 EUR for EuroStar Italia trains and 3.00 for InterCity trains. She can hop on and off Regionale trains at will.

There is frequent Regionale train service connecting all five CT towns. See the timetables on either the Trenitalia site or the German Rail site.
