Etruscan Museum

What was your impression of the Etruscan Museum. Rick Steves' guide gives it 0 stars and said there is scant information in English.

We visited the museum in Volterra and found it to be very interesting. Not sure which one your are talking about, if it's the same, but I'd recommend it - if you like museums. Maybe there is info in English, I don't remember, we had a guide with us to explain the coffins to us and tell us the history of the region.

It's a very large and excellent museum - way too much to take in on one visit. Very detailed info on all Etruscan sites but, yes, all in Italian. We just tried to walk through and hit some of the highlights. It's worthwhile, but I would agree that other Rome sites would take precedence.

I was referring to the Etruscan Museum in Rome. I think we might do a quick tour through the museum to see the highlights

We visited the Etruscan museum in Volterra and were really impressed. The exhibits had all their information in Italian only but we were able to get an English audio guide which was excellent.

I think I'm seeing too much in one day: Borghese Gallery, Etruscan museum, Catacombs of Priscilla,Santa Maria del Popolo and Ara Pacis. And I want to have lunch in there somewhere. I need help tossing something out. I have a 21 yr old daughter who loves art and a husband that loves archeology and history.

I agree that you should take something out of that schedule, you'll be tired of museums even if you love them! Your daughter will love Borghese if she's anything like me. I am 20, saw it last year and Bernini's sculptures there are just incredible. Another one of his famous ones, the Ecstasy of St. Teresa, is not in the Borghese but at the church Santa Maria della Vittoria. Definitely worth it to walk over and stop in if mass is not going on, it's beautiful.
