Espresso Assisi

I’m trying to purchase rail tickets from Rome (Termini) to Assisi on the historic Espresso Assisi train - to visit the annual olive festival. I can’t find availability on the two main train websites. Does anyone know if it’s already sold out for the Sunday trips in October and November? I fear it’s a popular ticket and I’m way too late. Any other insights, tips or recommendations on Espresso Assisi are appreciated! Thank you, Scott

Two main sites ? Afaik there is only one and it doesn't seem that specific service to Assisi has been extended till 2026: https://www.fondazionefs.it/en/itineraries.html?region=&train-type=&month=november

This year it seems an Olive Oil Festival in Tuscany "won" the historic train: https://www.fondazionefs.it/en/itineraries/2026/10/18/treno-natura--festa-dell-olio-novo.html

It's quite early for November, you could check again later. Usually these Sagras are last-minute day trips.

Thank you. Maybe the article I read referred to 2025 service? And the websites I checked were ItaliaRail (“no dates available”) and FS Trenitalia Turistici.

Hi, Giangilberto from Milan, the Espresso Assisi isn't a scheduled service, it's a Fondazione FS heritage train, and those are programmed season by season, they change every year and some don't come back.
You can reach Assisi by ordinary train any day of the week. The station is Santa Maria degli Angeli, about 5 km below the historic centre, with a bus connection up, from Rome it's roughly two hours with a change at Foligno. So the olive festival is perfectly doable even if the heritage train doesn't run.
