Is it possible to visit Segesta and Erice from Palermo in one day? Is it possible to go by bus, or do you recommend a guide for the day? Can you recommend a guide company that could take me and my husband for a private day tour there? I assume Segesta and Erice are worth seeing. Thanking you in advance for your advice!
I think it's highly unlikely you could pull this off via public buses. I expect it will require either a rental car or some sort of private driver (taxi or otherwise). I took a bus to Trapani and spent several days there, during which I made a day-trip to Erice. I did not attempt to go to Segesta.
I have no personal experience with hiring a private driver/guide but you can check out this tour and email them for a quote. You can do Palermo to Segesta to Erice and back to Palermo by bus but I'm not sure it would be worth the travel time. If you rented a car for the day I would say - do it on your own. But otherwise I would certainly check some private driver tours to see what the cost difference would be and it might be worth the more convenient and comfortable transportation. Both locations are worth seeing.
Yes both are worth seeing, especially Segesta.
There are many day tours available from Palermo.
Both are worth seeing and can be done in a day with a car. I don't know if you can connect them by bus in a day, I would think not, the times would be challenging to coordinate.
We had a rental car and did this from a base in Scopello, could be done from Palermo, too - leave for Erice in the early morning (it is beautiful early, before anyone gets there!), visit it until after lunch, drive to Segesta for an afternoon visit (get there at maybe 3PM), then back. I don't know about hiring drivers, I've never done it, but I think it could be done. Or rent a car for the day.
