Entrance to Forum and Palatine

I'm going to the Forum and Palatine today but I'm not sure about where to enter. I seem to remember being able to go to the Forum via the Palatine from the last time I was in Rome, but I'm not sure. Is this true? And if not, how do I visit them both? Is my ticket still valid if I exit the Palatine and then enter the Forum or vice versa?

You can enter the Forum through the Arch of Titus (Arco di Tito) across from the Colosseum, or enter from behind the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument, or walk up the steps to the Campidoglio and enter on the side. Look for any of these spots on Google Maps and open street view to get a look.
