Greetings. I am looking at flights from Newark (Ugh) to Venice with a stop in Lisbon. One flight is 75 min. between flights and the other is 3 1/2 hours. Same price. Would I need to go through customs on the pass through? The 90 min. would definitely not work and maybe cutting too close anyway? Thoughts? TY
You don’t go thru customs, you pass thru immigration where they just stamp your passport. If your flights are all on the same ticket and your flight is not late you should be fine with 75 minutes. If you have separate tickets then you would need the 3 1/2 hours.
While you won't need to concern yourself with Customs, you will have to go through Passport Control. 75 minutes leaves NO time for any delay in arrival or long lines at Immigration. And dont forget that the gates usually close at leat 15 minutes before departure. If both flights are on the same ticket, the airline is obligated to get you to your destination, but there's no guarantee there would be a seat available on the very next flight. As risk averse as I am, I would opt for the longer connection time and use the time to stretch my legs a bit.
Ty for the feedback. I was leaning, to be safe, to the 3 1/2 hours. Too many possibilities for the 75 min. to be an issue. Appreciate the feedback.
