Enough time in Capri?

We will be arriving in Capri on a cruise ship in July. We would like to follow Rick's tour plan to take a boat to the Blue Grotto, then the bus to the Anacapri Monte Solaro chairlift, then a bus back to Capri and use the funicular back to the marina and our ship. We will be in port from 8:00 to 1:00. If it reasonable to think we can do all this in this amount of time?

we were there a few weeks ago, early may. good luck !! if you can beat all the other tourists, maybe??? how good are you at beating off other tourists?
( although I am not sure how long it would take to do the blue grotto, in total) we have opted to not do the blue grotto, both times we have been there.
for great views consider going to villa san michele, while in anacapri.
the main square in capri is not worth spending any time in. rather there are plenty of nice walks to do away from the town.

You would be very lucky just to see the BlueGrotto. The other things might work if the Grotto doesn't (cancelled by weather, too long a wait, etc.) When I researched doing it in half a day, there was laughter. Apparently all of the stars would have to perfectly align... If you're determined to do it, have a definite plan. Otherwise, Capri on its own is wonderful (so I've heard). My visit will have to wait, as my itinerary would cut things too close. Whatever you do, have a great time!

I just don't think that you have the time.

The Blue Grotto is over rated and should not in my opinion be seen in lieu of other sights on Capri...you will miss the beauty of the island and the sweeping views in the 2 or so hours it will take to go to the grotto...

I recommend the Mt. Solaro chair lift and if time permits after you walk around Anacapri, go to the Villa San Michele for the views over the rest of the island...and some needed shade.

TIP: Make sure that you are down in Marina Grande at least 45 minutes before departure...many people make mistakes in thinking it takes 15 minutes to take the funicualare back down but the line can be 45 minutes sometimes...

I have stayed on Capri for over a week at a time and still find it magical...

Enjoy your trip!

No Way you are doing that in half a day, that is a full day's itinerary unless you happen to be the only one's on the island.
You basically have to decide between the Blue Grotto and the Anacapri Chairlift

I would agree that you can't do that much in 1/2 a day, and that the Blue Grotto is overrated and overpriced for the little bit of time one spends inside...if they can even GET inside. I'd go for the chairlift: it's fun, and the view from the mt. is very nice. There's also a cafe up there for a leisurely gander with a beverage. Then just take a stroll around Anacapri and a browse of the wares before returning to the marina.
