We have flights booked to Rome arriving 3/19 and departing 3/28. We have been thinking of the following general itinerary, but now are second-guessing whether this is the best use of our time in Italy. We would really appreciate any feedback or suggestions on this.
Some background on our family: My husband and I are both 50 and our sons are 21 and 18. We love to do just about anything, like to walk around or hike or ride horses, enjoy connecting with people and really "experiencing" an area rather than just seeing it, like taking pictures, love adventures and independent travel, enjoy learning from guides and guidebooks, love good food, sometimes like to shop a little bit (okay, that's for me), enjoy museums but like to balance that with activities or outdoors time, very willing to take public transportation, prefer not to cram lots of sights in and end up with the trip being a blur,.... that's about all I can think of for background info. We own the 2009 RS Italy book, a book on Naples and AC, and a book on Rome, and I have read several others from the library.
