End of itinerary questions for June 2017

We will be in Verona on June 18 and need to be in Munich on the 20th to fly home. Is it reasonable to travel from Verona to Ortesei for one night, visit Berchtesgaden on the 19th spending the night in Salzburg and then traveling to Munich on the 20th? Thanks for feedback.

Susan,

I've not traveled to any of the places on your list, except for Verona, but it sure sounds like you will be rushing around too much & not have enough time to really enjoy any of your destinations.

Ortisei & Salzburg are on my bucket, so I've done a bit of research, and I can definitely say that I'd like to spend at least 3 nights in each of these beautiful places.

What's your itinerary?

Perhaps you can take 1-2 nights away from some of your other destinations?

Have a wonderful trip!

Are you traveling by rental car or by train / bus?
Even with a car this is kind of a lot to see in less than 3 days.

Do you mean that your flight home is on June 20, or is it on June 21?

Will you have a car? Ortisei is very nice, but it's not on a rail line. Without a car you'd be taking the train to one of the valley towns (probably Bolzano), then getting a bus up to Ortisei. You'd need to check schedules carefully to be sure you wouldn't have to wait too long for the bus. As I recall, it leaves from very near the train station.

The next day would be a considerably bigger challenge. Just from Bolzano to Berchtesgaden would take 5-1/2 hours or more by rail. Then add the bus time from Ortisei to Bolzano, the time to see Berchtesgaden, and the time to go on to Salzburg. I think that day would be impractical.

Start with needing to be very close to or in Munich the night before your flight. If your flight is on the 20th, Salzburg is not a good plan for the night of the 19th. . Ortisei is lovely -- my very favorite place in Italy -- but one night is ridiculous. Why not head to Munich for the last two nights and enjoy that city?
