Looking for advice regarding visiting the Tuscany area. I am considering either the last two weeks of April which would avoid Easter holidays but would include Liberation Day celebration. Or mid May which would avoid local holidays as far as I can tell.
Reason for my deliberation include weather and also best wildflower viewing. And also the impact of local crowds due to local holidays in Cinque Terra, Lake Como and also the island of Elba. (I realize this includes more than Tuscany area)
I have stayed at an agriturismo near Pienza a few times since 2017 and gotten to know the owners a bit. In the past I would have suggested mid May for the flowers but with changing weather patterns I know that last year they were experiencing almost drought conditions in the spring. For that reason late April might be better but of course no one knows for sure. I am planning to go earlier in the spring than I would have in the past for my next trip. Buon viaggio!
