Emma Villas Villa Rentals

Hello all,

Is anyone in the same dilemma having to possibly cancel a villa rental for June? This entire situation for all is such a sad one.

Just wondering if someone has had to do this and how the situation was handled.

Thank you.

brewer,

What does your contract say? If you have a nonrefundable deposit then no, you won’t be getting your deposit back. Sorry. Your best shot maybe a new date or voucher credit for a future use. Have you contacted them? If not, do so.

Are you currently in Europe? If you are currently in the US I will be real blunt- your not getting into Italy in June. Again, sorry. As you note, a very sad situation.

Brener, every accommodation has their own policies so what applies to one doesn't necessarily apply to another. It can also depend on whether you booked directly with the property or through a 3rd-party website. You need to reference the cancellation policy as spelled out in your reservation.

Thank you to all. We are in the US and have not canceled yet. We just keep hoping but think our family trip cannot be saved.
We booked directly.
We plan to notify but just hoping it will work out. Guess that hope is dwindling.

Thank you to all who offered answers.

We were able to cancel all of our reservations in Italy without penalty for this May and June. All were refundable within certain time frames and I cancelled within those time frames (like a month before the reservation). I wrote notes to each of the places and explained why. I did this because I had corresponded with many people several times and wanted to tell them how sorry I was about the impact of the virus on them. The owner of the apartment in Venice wrote back and told me that you and I both know you have to do this and can only hope you can travel to Venice soon.

It was very hard to do as it was a trip with our adult children and missing the time with them is a loss in itself.

My husband is working on our situation. We are only deposited at this time and insured. We have the same situation.... 3 generations and been planning for almost a year.

Even wore, is to see what this flu is doing to Italy and its people. One of our most favorite places to spend time and so sad to see what is happening to a wonderful country and its people.

Thanks for answering and stay well.

brewer- any chance your taking a month? Italy may open in time but with 14 day quarantine provisions. Might be an opportunity to kick back and enjoy a staycation at the villa for the first 2 weeks.

Not this time. We could but family is involved also. It was not easy to find these 2 weeks. Also, who knows what will happen with school and we have a grandson starting college in the fall.... if the semester opens.
Everything is so uncertain now.
We will just have to move forward and look forward to better times. Who would have ever imagined.
Stay well.
