Emergency evacuation insurance

Wondering what people have found for reasonable medical evacuation insurance

I buy AirMed: https://www.airmed.com

I have never had to use them but like their dedicated medical air transport system.

MedJet Assist is another company mentioned here often but if you're older than 74 you have to jump through extra hoops with them and that just bugs me.

Medjet is the "Kleenex" of medevac, but you might find you get it if you buy other travel insurance.

You can get an AARP discount.

Take a look at squaremouth.com It lets you compare numerous companies based on what type of policy you want and the amount of coverage. Getting a policy takes minutes.

Many travel health Insurance policies do include some type of evacuation. However, you need to read the fine print. It's usually only to the nearest hospital. Medjet Assist is different in that it will transport you to the hospital of your choice.

I should clarify my post. Lots of insurance policies come with evacuation coverage - they will "evacuate" you to the nearest good facility.

AirMed and MedJet Assist will take you home. (There are caveats, of course, like being medically stable enough to travel etc.)

Please read the fine print - this is from a rather generic travel insurance/trip interruption package [Trawick International] with $1,000,000 in Emergency Evacuation coverage:

Emergency Evacuation means:
(a) Your medical condition warrants immediate Transportation from the Hospital where You are first taken when injured
or sick to the nearest Hospital where appropriate medical treatment can be obtained;
(b) after being treated at a local Hospital, Your medical condition warrants Transportation to Your Home where You
reside, to obtain further medical treatment or to recover; or
(c) both (a) and (b), above.
