“Elettrico” mini-busses still running in Rome?

Heading to Rome soon — it has been a few years since my last visit, when I used the mini-busses #116 and #117. Not sure if both are still running — # 117 appears on ATAC maps, but neither the #116 or #117 show up when I use GoogleMaps that display transit options. Does anyone know if either or both lines are still in service? Thanks!

Corrie,

I found this reference to the #117 Bus.....

"Ellectrico Minibuses: Cute ellectrico minibuses that wind through the narrow streets of old and interesting neighborhoods are great for transport or simple joyriding (although they're so small it can be hard to find a seat). *Ellectrico #117** connects San Giovanni in Laterano, Colosseo, Via dei Serpenti, Trevi Fountain, Piazza di Spagna, and Piazza del Popolo - and vice versa. Where Via del Corso hits Piazza del Popolo, a #117 is usually parked and ready to go. Riding it from here to the end of the line, San Giovanni in Laterano, makes for a fine joyride that leaves you, conveniently, at a great sight."*

I found this reference to the #116 Bus, but I don't know if it's current.....

"116 - This tiny electric bus cuts a winding path through the narrow streets of the old town. It starts from Via Porta Pinciana, just off the top of the Via Veneto, and passes Piazza Barberini, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza del Parliamento, Via Zanardelli, Corso Rinascimento, Campo de 'Fiori, Piazza Farnese, Via Giulia, Lungotevere, Santo Spirito, Gianicolo Terminal (for San Pietro)."

AFAIK they are discontinued. The 116 was “suppressed” as they say in Italian while I still worked at the embassy. Never took the 117 but it is no longer on the ATAC site. The 116 was often crowded to the point of being dangerous. No longer charming last time I took it.
