Electrical outlets in Italy and France!

I'm traveling to Italy and France and was wondering about the electrical system there! Will I be able to plug in my camera battery adapter and recharge my cell as I would in Canada? Thanks!

Marilyn, Although the video in the first reply provided a good overview, I have a few additional comments... The first thing you need to do is check EACH device you'll be travelling with, to determine whether they're designed for "world operation". Look for the words "Input Voltage" somewhere on the Charger. If this states 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz. then the device will work in Europe with only a Plug Adapter. Italy and France use this style Plug Adapter for non-grounded Plugs: www.magellans.com/store/Adaptors___Converters___Plug_AdaptorsEA351D If you want a grounded Plug Adapter, these two styles are used in Italy: www.magellans.com/store/Adaptors___Converters___Plug_AdaptorsEA23MIG www.magellans.com/store/Adaptors___Converters___Plug_AdaptorsEA23MDG Another important question to address is what type of Cell phone you're using, and which network you're with? Also, are you using a Smartphone such as an iPhone or Blackberry? Be especially careful when travelling with a Smartphone, as data roaming charges can be extreme! A woman from Vancouver recently returned home for a 2.5 week trip and found a bill for $37,000 waiting in the mail. Happy travels!
