"What item" ???? Confusing ? What are you asking? Check to see if the input on your items says Input 120-240 volt. You are good to with just a plug adapter - changes your two bladed US plug to a two rounded plug for Italy. You're flatiron could be a different problem since requires high wattage. If it isn't rated for dual usage it will need a voltage converter that is rated for high wattage. They are expensive and heavy and over time may damage the flatiron anyway. So, if it is not rated for dual usage, buy one when you get them. Easier and cheaper in the long run.

Pam, There are a number of aspects to your question, so I'll address each one. > Flatiron - As Frank mentioned you'll first have to determine if your Flatiron is designed for "world operation" from 100-240 VAC. If not, I'd suggested buying a dual-voltage model from Magellan's or other retailers. You could also purchase one when you arrive in Italy. > Camera - again, you'll need to check the "Input Voltage" specifications on the Charger. If these state Input 100-240 VAC, 50/60 Hz, then you'll only need an inexpensive Plug Adapter to use this in Europe. > Cell Phone - Check the Phone Charger the same as the Camera. A more important question is whether your phone will even work in Europe? Which network are you with? Also, are you using a Smartphone such as an iPhone, Android or Blackberry? Regarding Plug Adapters, This Model is the correct one for Italy for appliances which don't require grounding. I'd recommend packing at least two of these, as they're easy to misplace. Happy travels!

Pam, if you are staying in older properties, don't try to plug in everything at once. I alternated charging my camera and phone on different days, and a simple adapter plug (Travel Store) worked great for about $1.

Like they said, check to see if your flatiron is dual-voltage. If you can't find it on the iron itself, just google it. If it's not, just go to Amazon and put in "dual-voltage flation" and it will give you options. I did that last year for hot rollers since I was tired of bad-hair photos. Then all you need it it converter plug. Those voltage converters are so heavy. Also, I don't think we had any hotel in Italy that had more than two outlet plugs, so be ready to rotate.

Do not plug a three prong into a euro 2-round plug in to the wall. I did that in Venice and blew the breaker for our part of the hotel! Easy part is, the hotel is used to this and quickly flipped the breaker back on.

We really need to use correct terminology otherwise it gets confusing for less knowledgeable folks. A "plug adapter" allows a US shaped plug to be plugged into an European socket. A "converter" or even a "plug converter" is a device that changes the 220 European voltage to a US 120 voltage.
