Elderly mother to Italy

Looking for recommendations. I’ve been to Italy twice in the past 2 years and would like to take my 82 yr old mother. She is mobile but tires after 2 miles so lots of walking not an option. I’m thinking of primarily staying in the Tuscany region and we will need to travel by train to get to our locations. We will be there for a week so would be nice to see a few towns but happy to primarily stay in one or two locations and travel by train to other locations. Looking for recommendations of a good village to stay in where we can sightsee and enjoy but also take the train for a couple of day trips. Anyone have a good itinerary for traveling with an elderly parent? I think she will do better in smaller villages as opposed to visiting Rome or even Florence. Thanks!

Time of year? Interests? What does Mom want? And many many smaller hotels, even very nice ones, lack elevators. A week in two locations says three nights in each - Arrival Day - 2 days - travel day- 2 days - departure day. The cores of Florence and Siena are quite compact if combined with a cab to a central hotel. Villages mean walking everywhere since most do not accommodate cars. Check TRENITALIA for rail connections between "villages" and larger towns. Gelato or an Aperol Spritz in the square in Siena watching people after a tour of the Duomo after a train ride from Florence sounds like just the ticket.

Splitting your week between Florence and Lucca could work
Lucca is bit quieter than Florence for sure although not a typical Tuscan hill town it has several lively piazzas, walk or ride a surrey bike around the wall etc
I’m sure they have assisted surrey bikes for rent

It’s an easy bus ride to Pisa ( or train)

While in Florence do a guided day trip to see the countryside, wine taste, etc
Florence is flat and compact, stay right in the center so you can pop back to room for a rest when needed

Look at flights to Florence or Pisa
