Elba Island With or Without Car

We will have a rental car and can take it across on the ferry, but are trying to decide if it’s necessary. It’s significantly cheaper to park and cross as passengers than to take the car with us, but will take it if it will be worthwhile.

We will be there in May and will probably only be spending about 6 hours on the island. I’ve read conflicting information about the accessibility and frequency of bus service.

Ideally, we would like to go to Cavoli based on our research, but maybe there is something better to see that’s closer to the ferry port. We’ve read that the southern beaches are warmer and sandier, which is our preference for our beach day. We will have two younger kids with us, understand it might be cooler weather due to the time of year and know that it will be a long day.

Thanks for any insight!
