Elba - how to decide what beach to stay on

There are so many beaches, it's hard to figure out where to go but I definitely want to be near a beach. We aren't sun bathers. Sand or pebbles doesn't matter. I love the idea of the clear water, good areas to do water activities and something different from Califoria coast. We like to be nearby small town area to wander, eat, drink. (I know they are small.) We want to be near nature, trails, paths to walk and explore. We don't need extreme hiking or biking. We're pretty laid back, but not laid back enough to sit on the beach all day. We don't mind taking bus to other areas. Maybe we'll rent a hotel room or maybe an apartment. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. 3 beds would be ideal.

Any help narrowing down the best areas for me to look would be great!

Although the last time I was on the island Ronald Reagan was the US President (so it’s been a while), In my opinion the prettiest and quantiest town with several restaurants and cafes is Capoliveri. The town center is on the hill but the sea isn’t far. In terms of beaches, there are beautiful spots everywhere. Just google best beaches Elba or spiagge più belle Elba and you can see. There are also plenty of hiking opportunities, such as Mt. Capanne, from which you can see the entire Archipelago and other sights, including Napoleon’s homes, which are now museums. There are also other pretty towns, like Marciana, Portoferraio, etc. just get in a car and explore, the island isn’t huge. I am sure there is bus service, but I don’t know how frequent, I’ve a.ways had a car.
