Hi all,
We are flying in to Venice soon, and am wondering about a few things.
How long should it take to go through immigration and customs before we can take a water taxi? Have the new EU programs (EES) gone into effect that seem to be taking so much time? I read there is another one as well that has you register beforehand?
Our hotel offers someone to meet you, take you to a private water taxi, and right to the hotel. They say if we are not at the meeting point within 45 minutes of landing, we are considered a no show. I’m just wondering if that is enough time. We are flying non stop from JFK to VCE with arrival at 10:20 am if that makes a difference.
Thanks for any advice!
Is the hotel charging for this service?
You can book your own water taxi or shared water taxi quite easily-in fact you don’t even need to book ahead as there are plenty of water taxis available as well as other modes of transportation (alilaguna, bus/vaporetto)
EES is very simple -shouldn’t add any additional time
Flights can be delayed, luggage takes time and no telling how long thru passport control
I would just book my own transportation -no worries then
ETIAS is not active anywhere so nothing to be concerned about
Here is the official water taxi site

For shared water taxis just book on arrival at the desk in terminal
Yes, they are charging, but it is a private water taxi, and goes to the hotel, so there shouldn’t be too much wondering where to go and schlepping the luggage after a long flight. I was just concerned they would leave us if it takes a long time to get through customs and immigration.
Ok
You can book your own private water taxi that will take you right to the hotel (assuming they have a water gate)
They will monitor your flight (surprised hotel isn’t doing that)
You can check pricing on the official site to see how much more the hotel is charging you
Thank you! I will do that, just didn’t know how to go about it and afraid I’d be too jet lagged to do the right thing!
Very easy
On arrival just follow the signs to dock, there is a moving sidewalk
Lots of travelers will be doing the same
Thanks so much, Christine!
