EatWith dinner in Rome

Was a little skeptical about rave reviews when I booked a dinner with EatWith for Rome, specifically dinner with Barbara in Trastavere. But it couldn't have been any better. The dinner in her home was fantastic. The meal was very good. Barbara is a very gracious host. Her dinner has become so popular that she had to add diners to that night, a group of 29. There was unlimited wine, several great courses as well as desert (strawberry gelato), coffee and after dinner drinks of limoncello, Sambuca, etc. Nobody wanted the evening to end (it started at 8 pm), and the wine was still flowing well after midnight. Was obvious Barbara was having as good a time hosting as we were visiting. Was no pretense on her part, she was having a good time along with the guests of which at least 15 stayed until the end. Would definitely recommend this to a solo diner, couple or group. When back in Rome would definitely do it again with Barbara.

I've wanted to try Le Cesarine (a Slow Food offshoot) or EatWith on my last several trips to Italy, but couldn't convince my travel companions. Next time for sure! Thanks for the great review

Yes, this looks like an excellent idea and a nice way to socialise. I've never spent this much before but would be willing to do so for this if I ever get back to Rome. Where were most of the guests from Dan?

If I ever get the chance to attend, I hope it's a table full of Scotsmen and Englishmen. There may be fireworks at the end of the evening.

Why would there be fireworks?

We did the exact same dinner in May 2015 and had exactly the same wonderful experience. Barbara was fantastic. We had a pair of sisters from Israel, two young women from Philadelphia, a couple from Montreal, a couple from Orange County, California, and a couple of Barbara's Roman friends. Conversations were in English, French and Italian, but predominantly English. We had an absolute blast, and were there until midnight, as I recall. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Here's more info:

We also did one in Barcelona and had an equally good time there.

Michael, that's great to hear about Barcelona! After reading this we are booking a brunch when we are in Barcelona in October. :-)

I cannot wait to do this next time I travel! I'm often by myself so this would be a great way to meet people along the way!

Thanks for the information about the EatWith site. I will be in Florence at the end of the month and had hoped to dine with some locals we met there before - but I just found out they will be away so I am looking for another opportunity. Has anyone dined with Patrizia?
Thanks

So good to hear! I had emailed her (Barbara) a few weeks ago but they are taking most of August off which is when we will be in Rome. Will look for another opportunity.
