eating near the Ponte Rialto

I read somewhere that near the Ponte Rialto, there are several restaurants where you can buy a glass of wine in one, a snack in another and another snack in yet another restaurant, walking between these restaurants. We are going to Venice and would love to try this. Anyone know about this??? Thanks

Are you speaking of the famous Venetian pub crawl? Rick Steves writes about it here, and we have also gone to some of the bars mentioned in this article. We always go to Osteria Ca' D'Oro (La Vedova) for a tiny glass of wine and a polpetta, and like Cantina Do' Mori very much, too. Almost every bar/cantina has a selection of cicchetti at aperitivo time.

EXACTLY !!! Thanks much. I am also giving this to my niece as she is leaving about the same time as I am and she was excited about doing this. Are all the little restaurants on the San Marco side of the Rialto Bridge?? tnx

No they're not. One of our favourites is in Dorsoduro near the Squero, and a couple of weeks ago discovered a most favourite deep in Cannaregio. The 4 or so near the Mercato at Rialto are all very much fun and tasty, and the polpette (meatballs) at Ca d'Oro mentioned by Laurel are worth it, even if the staff are less informal there.

We liked the Cantina do Spade which is near Cantina do Mori. In addition to cicchetti, they also have a restaurant. We liked it so well we ate cicchetti at Cantina do Spade four of the five nights we were there.

I'm glad Carol mentioned Cantina Do Spade. Good place!
Nancy, Venice is compact and confusing, which is part of the fun of a pub crawl. You can go walk from one end to the other in 30 minutes, so don't worry if you have to cross the bridge a few times. It helps burn the calories after all.

Ah, Cantina Do Spade..... yum. Envision for me large rounds of squid, interspersed with small rounds of squid, set off by tiny octopus, all on a long thin stick, deep fried. Crunchy, chewy (just the right amount of slightly chewy), tasty, with a hint of chili; served by 3 really nice folk. yum.
