Eating in Santa Margherita Ligure

Buongiorno,
My wife and I are attending a wedding in early September in SML. We will be there a week at Hotel Continental and would like some leads on restaurants. Not too fancy (we are used to Portugal's informality) with the edge to seafood.

The only one I have researched is Capo Nord on the path to Portofino.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
D&E

I really cannot recommend one specific. But what we do:
If you walk around, all restaurants have their menu written outside, with prices, tip and tax included. So you can see what they ar offering for what prices and can decide, day by day.

I had two favorite spots in SML. One was a wine bar that was recommended in the RIck Steves Italy guidebook. I tore the SML pages out of the book when I traveled and then didn't keep them, so I can't tell you the name of it, but it was just above the harbor. The wine was wonderful and it came with a plate of food that could almost make a light dinner. I loved this place! If you're going up an incline to get to it, that's the spot.

The other place may have also been in the book: Del Baffo. Here's what I wrote in my trip journal: "A find. Real old-timey Italian place run by pazzo family, maybe 3 generations. Old photos on walls, tons of regulars coming in." The woman who served me put up with my primitive Italian. Certainly not fancy but good food and nice people. I ate there twice.

My favorite place in SML. was this restaurant, but they have made some changes since I was there. Reviews still look very good:

Osteria No. 7 is a simple restaurant with authentic Ligurian food.

It does not have the view, or the very high prices, of CAPO NORD and it might be best for non-seafood dishes.
