easyjet carry on baggage

Since all these new regs re: luggage we are trying to be very careful not to exceed limits. Most carriers give dimensions & say overall measurement must not exceed this limit e.g. 56x24x25 = 126. our Carryons do not exceed the 126 but the length is 1 longer altho width & depth are shorter = overall dimension is 3 smaller than 126. Does Easyjet go by individual dimensions or total dimensions. Thankyou'll for help, Bill & Brenda

We flew Easy Jet last spring and they paid no attention to our carry on bags. I have never measured them and have had the bags for ten years so I assume they meet the requirements.

My husband and I just flew Easy Jet in September from Rome to Venice and they were definitely checking every bag! We got snagged with a bag that would not fit in the test compartment and had to pay 22 Euros to have it checked! Then you were only allowed ONE carry on and that included your purse. I had to put my little purse in my carry on before they would let me proceed to the plane. If you are planning to fly EJ, my advice to you would be check your bag in advance if you have any doubts at all it will not be considered carry on.

brenda,

My experience with EasyJet is similar to that mentioned my Teri. On a flight from Rome to Athens earlier this year, they had a sizing frame set up at the boarding gate and checked each item of carry-on. One passenger's luggage was slightly too large to fit, and he got into a huge argument with the boarding staff, to the point where one of the air crew was summoned. I never did learn whether the situation was resolved?

The carry-on limits are not exclusive to EasyJet. Most of the Euro carriers seem to have similar restrictions, so it won't make any difference which airline you use.

Does Easyjet go by individual dimensions or total dimensions? That's difficult to answer as I suspect this could be subject to interpretation by staff members (which could vary from location-to-location). Although your luggage is slightly too large in one dimension, it will probably be acceptable as it fits the overall limits. I've never seen any staff using a tape measure, so fitting the sizing frame will be the issue.

One question - is your luggage hard-sided or soft-sided? If it's "soft" luggage, it will compress into the frame as you're only 1 cm. too large in one dimension.

Happy travels!

On an Easy Jet flight from Catania to Milan, they weighed my bag and it was over the carry on limit. I showed them my paperwork which stated a size restriction (which my bag was within) but they didn't care. I ended up having to pay about $100 to check our bags which hurt because I only spent about $20 for each plane ticket. The moral is, Italians do what they want to do, even when you're dealing with an international airline.
